Baseten is hiring a Data Engineer to build and scale its internal data platform, a role sitting at the intersection of data engineering, analytics and data science. You would turn raw product and business data into reliable datasets that power decision-making across Product, Engineering, Finance, Marketing and Sales, including telemetry from AI inference, infrastructure and observability systems. The work covers core data models and semantic layers, batch and streaming pipelines (Apache Beam, Kafka, Airflow), and company-wide metrics across product usage, performance and customer lifecycle. There is a self-service angle too: enabling analytics through agents and well-structured semantic layers, plus data-reliability work via testing, documentation and governance. Preferred experience includes inference metrics (latency, throughput, token usage), consumption-based B2B SaaS, and forecasting with ARIMA or Prophet. The interesting part is the subject matter: modeling the economics of an AI inference platform, where the data itself is GPU usage and token throughput.
