About the role
Datafold is hiring a Forward Deployed Data Engineer to own delivery of its AI-automated data-platform migrations.
Datafold is a venture-backed data-engineering automation company, not a typical services shop. It runs large-scale migrations, for example onto Databricks and Snowflake, at fixed price and guaranteed timeline using its own Migration Agent, often around 6x faster than alternatives. You would own 1 to 4 concurrent migration projects end to end: scoping, planning, configuring the Migration Agent, overseeing execution, and acting as the primary customer contact through weekly check-ins.
They want 3 to 6 years in data consulting or a customer-facing data engineering role, a strong grasp of the modern data stack (dbt, Snowflake, Databricks, orchestration), comfort with legacy patterns like stored procedures and ETL, and a genuine AI-power-user habit.
What stands out is the leverage: the AI tooling means one engineer delivers what used to take a full consulting team. US-remote (the source tag was a generic Remote with no EU hiring signal).
