Tech stack
Twilio is hiring its next L5 Principal ML & Data Engineer to lead the design of the internal ML and data platform, US-only remote.
You architect Twilio's end-to-end ML and real-time data platforms for reliability, security, and cost efficiency: feature stores, streaming and batch pipelines, low-latency model serving on AWS, and MLOps for hundreds of daily deployments. You own system design reviews, threat modeling, and performance tuning. Mentoring staff and senior engineers is part of the role, not a bonus.
Stack: Python plus one compiled language (Java, Scala, or Go), AWS, real-time streaming (Kafka likely), CI/CD, observability. Privacy and compliance touch the platform (HIPAA, SOC 2, GDPR).
What stands out: not hireable in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA. 7+ years building production data and ML systems at scale. Principal title means architect-of-the-platform, not "principal engineer who codes alone."
