Senior Data Engineer

dbt Labs, the company behind dbt and the pioneer of analytics engineering, is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to build and run the core data platform that powers its internal analytics and data products. You would own the platform that keeps data trustworthy at every layer, from the contracts that govern how it lands to the infrastructure that stores, transforms and serves it across the business. Concretely: the data lakehouse architecture (object storage, table formats, query-engine integration), data contracts and schema standards on event telemetry, and observability across pipeline reliability and freshness. The role expects expert SQL and Python, 5+ years in data engineering, hands-on Airflow/Dagster/Prefect, Spark in production, and cloud tooling like Terraform and Kubernetes. Iceberg and dbt experience are pluses. The hook here is dogfooding: you build on the very products dbt Labs ships, with executive visibility and direct influence on the platform the wider data community uses.
