Smartcat is hiring a Senior AI-First Data Engineer to help build the intelligence layer behind its agentic AI platform. You will work on a greenfield cloud data platform, moving the company away from legacy on-premise batch systems toward cloud-native, streaming-first infrastructure. The mission is to make business data discoverable, actionable, and consumable by both people and AI agents, partnering with Data, Product, Engineering, GTM, and AI teams.
The role spans architecture, reliability, governance, and data product development. You will build pipelines and streaming components, shape semantic layers and metadata, and use AI to accelerate testing, documentation, monitoring, and operational workflows. You will also mentor engineers and raise standards through code reviews and architecture leadership. The stack includes Databricks, dbt, Airflow, Python, SQL, and BI tooling such as Omni.
