    About the role

QIMA is hiring a Lead Data Scientist to build virtual models from complex biological datasets, taking the programme from dataset assessment through proof of concept and preparation for possible commercialisation. Initial applications may span skin, hair follicles, longevity, prostate cancer, and immunology. The role combines hands-on modelling with data pipeline development, data quality assessment, reproducibility, and scientific validation alongside laboratory teams.

You will work with Managing Directors, scientists, and AI and IT experts to select promising projects, identify data gaps, define experiments, and communicate findings to technical and non-specialist audiences. The first six months focus on selecting projects and establishing proofs of concept; within 12 to 15 months, the goal is to prepare at least one model for potential commercialisation. The role starts as an individual contributor, with possible team leadership as the programme grows. Europe-based work includes travel to QIMA laboratories.

    Highlights

    • Build machine learning models using complex biological data.
    • Own project selection, pipelines, proof of concept, and validation.
    • Collaborate with laboratory scientists and senior leadership.
    • PhD and 8-10 years of relevant experience required.
