About the role
Oyster is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to join its Data Engineering team, focused on building the foundational AI platform layer that supports AI capabilities across the company. The role sits at the intersection of data engineering, platform engineering, and applied AI, and it is explicitly not a traditional analytics or reporting position. You will design and build data pipelines and platform capabilities for AI applications, knowledge systems, and AI workflows, working with Oyster's AWS and Snowflake data platform.
Day to day, you will build ingestion, transformation, chunking, embedding, retrieval, vector search, and knowledge management pipelines. You will develop secure, reusable ways for AI systems to access enterprise data through APIs, MCP, and tool calling, and you will create services, libraries, and developer tooling that help engineering teams productionize AI.

- Fully remote role with a requirement to be based within UTC-6 to UTC+3
- Work on LLMs, RAG, embeddings, vector search, AI agents, and tool calling
- Build reusable platform capabilities on AWS and Snowflake
- 5+ years of experience in data, platform, backend, or ML engineering required
