About the role
Wikimedia Foundation is hiring a Senior Data Scientist on Product Analytics to steer Wikipedia's anti-abuse and security work. You sit with Product Safety and Integrity, using analysis and ML evaluation to make bot detection, sockpuppetry heuristics, and malicious-code models actually move the needle.
The role owns measurement strategy, experiment design (Bayesian and frequentist), and the queries behind large-scale Wikimedia data. You partner with PMs and engineers, ship self-serve dashboards, and keep 13:00-19:00 UTC overlap for the critical meetings. Remote-first, with Italy on the explicit hire list (EOR, work authorization required). US pay is $110-173k; elsewhere it is location-adjusted.
