About the role
WeRoad, the Italian group-travel community, is hiring a Staff Data Engineer for its Milan-based data team (full remote or hybrid).
This is a player-coach role owning the evolution of WeRoad's data platform end to end: the BigQuery warehouse and its raw-to-marts layers, dbt transformation and semantic layer, Airflow and dlt ingestion, and the self-service BI toolkit. You would also own data governance (quality, lineage, PII, access controls) and mentor one to two data engineers.
Highlights
- Stack: BigQuery, dbt, Airflow (plus dlt and serverless CDC) on GCP, with Tableau and Metabase moving to Lightdash.
- Staff/lead level: 5+ years, hands-on plus leadership of 1-2 engineers.
- Full remote or hybrid in Milan (EMEA entities: Italy, Spain, Germany, France, UK). RAL €60-75k.
- Greenfield governance work and production AI data pipelines.
