About the role
Kargo is hiring a founding Staff Data Platform Engineer to build a unified data platform for teams supporting self-serve advertising campaigns across CTV, web, mobile apps and social. The role reports to the Sr. Director of Data Engineering and owns the platform as a long-term product, from its architecture and roadmap to the standards and tools that help teams publish discoverable, reliable data products.
The engineer will create a data control plane for schemas, lineage, ownership, freshness, quality and access; build libraries, SDKs, templates and data-specific CI/CD; and implement contract validation and automated certification. The platform will make freshness, volume, schema conformance and quality observable by default, with metadata that supports AI-assisted triage. The role also includes design reviews, mentorship and growing a team as the platform expands.
