About the role
Avio, the Italian company behind space launchers and solid, liquid and cryogenic propulsion systems, is hiring a Stage AI Engineer focused on Generative AI and Large Language Models. The role sits within the Processi di Sistema team and reports closely to the person leading AI adoption, with the goal of building advanced artificial intelligence solutions for internal use cases.
You will design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems and autonomous agents, and turn complex space-industry technical documentation into structured, queryable knowledge bases that support decision making. The internship covers the full project lifecycle, from research and development through to production deployment, including model development and optimisation, experimentation with new algorithms, data digitisation and extraction pipelines, agent design, systematic testing and validation, and technical documentation.
